Travel & Logistics

Getting to KICC

The Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) is located in the heart of Nairobi’s CBD, 18km from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). Transfer options: taxi (30–45 min), ride-hail apps (Bolt/Uber), and official event shuttle services.

Visa & Entry Requirements

Kenya operates an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) system. Most nationalities can obtain an eTA online before travel. Citizens of 43 countries are exempt.

Required: valid passport (6+ months), return ticket, yellow fever certificate (where applicable), proof of accommodation.

Currency & Payments

Kenya’s currency is the Kenyan Shilling (KES). Major credit and debit cards are widely accepted in Nairobi. M-PESA mobile money is the dominant payment system. ATMs are available at JKIA and throughout Nairobi’s CBD.

Accommodation

Nairobi offers a wide range of accommodation options within minutes of KICC. Recommended partner hotels and official event rates will be published 8 weeks before the event.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Africa Forward Summit takes place on 11–12 May 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya. The Business Forum is on 11 May at the University of Nairobi. The Summit of Heads of State is on 12 May at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
Business Forum participants can register via the official accreditation portal. Official delegations participate through diplomatic channels. Media representatives should apply via the media accreditation portal. See the participation pathways above for details.
Most nationalities require an electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA), which can be obtained online at etakenya.go.ke. Apply at least 7–14 days before travel. East African Community citizens are exempt.
The Summit covers seven thematic areas: Health; Blue Economy; Green Industrialisation & Energy Transition; Peace & Security; Agriculture; Artificial Intelligence; and Reform of the International Financial Architecture.
The Summit is expected to culminate in the adoption of the Nairobi Declaration, along with concrete, action-oriented deliverables including private sector deals and commitments from both African and French parties.
